This year for Spring break holiday, my husband and I left our 8-year-old daughter at home with her wonderful grandparents and extended family while we enjoyed the most relaxing vacation in Cartagena, Colombia. For five days, we overlooked the Caribbean Sea from our hotel’s infinity pool. While I lounged with tequila in hand, I’m normally a vodka girl (Grey Goose was ridiculously expensive) I marveled at the crystal blue skies and turquoise water. Heaven.
The air was crisp, briny and slightly salty. In the evenings, we’d stroll within “The Wall” it’s the historic center of the city surrounded by about 2.5 miles of concrete wall. There were lots of restaurants, shopping and wild taxi drivers while the locals and tourist brushed shoulders. We really appreciated Plaza de Bolivar, here we stumbled upon an African inspired dance performed by beautiful, brown, incredibly fit dancers who gyrated to the beat of the large wooden drums. Pure Magic.
On our last full day in Cartagena, I was treated to a massage in the most serene spa I’ve ever visited. The private treatment room had panoramic views of the sea and smelled of a fresh relaxing herb mixture of earthy sage and eucalyptus. Divine.
And thus, “Royal Sea Mist” was born.
